I got some good news... I have an XP-50 that someone shoved a floppy disk into sideways and damaged the heads in the disk drive.
I refused to pay Roland 100.00 for a new one, so I too a chance and bought a VERY similar floppy drive...
Teac drive FD-235HF 7291 P/N 19307772-91 (new drive)
. Mechanically it is identical to the original drive...
Teac drive FD-235HF 7527 P/N 19307775-27 (original Roland drive)
I swapped all of the electronic parts (including motors) into the new shell which had the good heads.
Guess what??? It worked!!! YES!!!
later I replaced the orange led light with a superbright blue led for looks. So now it looks great and works great.
Oh yeah I also swapped the black cover and black eject button.
Good luck to all!
