Problems with adding effects

Hi, I have a new computer with a Terratec DMX 6fire. On my old computer Madtracker worked without any problems (it was a 333mhz with a Creative Soundblaster 128PCI).
On my new pc the program runs ok and the sound is good too. When I play an "old" module there is no problem but when I try to create a new one I can't select any of the effects in the "fx" menu.
The drop-down menu just isn't available!!

Is this a know problem and if yes: what can I do about it??
