Re: question

Re: question

: I have a question. The description says that Mellosoftron can turn any wave file into an instrument.
: Does that mean that it can take the wave form from the wave file and use that for the sound of the instrument in a sound module and then you can use your own midi file to play that instrument with whatever pitches and rhythms?

Rick, that is the general idea. The Mellosoftron acts as a virtual sampler, so wave files can be played at different pitches, and with different loop points, to simulate instruments. These can then be played via an external device or a MIDI file. However, the reality of setting up a patch (instrument) in any sampler is somewhat more complicated. Because pitch-shifting a waveform produces quality loss, because most instruments sound different at particular pitches, and because various attributes of the sound must be set for every key (attack, decay, loop points, etc), creating even a simple instrument that sounds good can be an arduous task. This is evident in any sampler, not just the Mellosoftron.

I believe that it is possible to buy sample CDs for real samplers and convert their data into Mellosoftron data files. Anyone tried this?
