The problem is recording and playing are totaly seperate process and Apple doesn't provide a way to sysncronize them or to see how far out of sync they are, so I calculate it as best as I can. 2.4.2 has improved sysnchronization. On my Mac (233 mHz G3 PowerBook) you can not here it but if you look close you can see they are slightly out of sync. You can always fix it with cut and paste.
