It's now years later since this thread was first posted (I have Capella 5.3) and it still crashes - continuously. I have lost input so many times I have lost count, and have long ago resorted to saving after every couple of keystrokes. Hardly satisfactory. The programmers responsible for the stability of this software have been absolutely inept in finding a solution to this problem which has existed for many years. I have been a Capella user for 10 years or so and have the suite of capella programs. Having spent a lot of money on these including upgrades and invested time into learning this program I have been loathe to dump Capella and go for Sibelius. I am here because I have reached the end of my long and sorely tried patience. There are two things you need to solve this issue - a credit card, and a BIN.
