In Kristal, you can use your standard onboard soundcard, but with an asio-driver. when recording I usually use a usb-soundcard with asio support as a standard, but occasionally I use my old toshiba laptop for recording, on which I installed asio4all (http://www.asio4all.com/) as a second driver for the onboard soundcard. It works well, and I have no latency problems. It's very simple: download the driver, install it, and it will automatically be recognised by Kristal (don't forget to select the asio driver in the preferences! Otherwise Kristal will still use the mme driver.)
