Music Software Popularity Index - 2008 Q1
Digital Music Doctor announces the results of the Music Software Internet Popularity Index for First Quarter 2008. As in all previous releases of this analysis, Digidesign Pro Tools holds a commanding lead. However, there have been some significant shifts in the quarterly rankings of the other products. Steinberg Cubase moved back into second place, bumping Image Line FL Studio and Cakewalk Sonar each down by one position. Apple Logic and GarageBand moved up to the fifth and sixth positions. Adobe Audition, and Sony Acid and Sound Forge continue to move lower in the rankings.
The ten most popular music software products on the Internet, based on recent search engine activity are:

This index is based on quarterly Internet search activity on Google, Yahoo, AOL and MSN. Collectively these 4 search engines represent more than 95 percent of the searches on the Internet. Over 100 search terms are used to construct this index, and 15 music software products are tracked. An annual average of the past four quarters is also included for comparison.
