Mandala USB drum pad now ships with 3GB of Ludwig samples

Packaging the soul of a classic with the spirit of the new, Synesthesia Corporation is offering 3 gigabytes of Ludwig Black Beauty samples with its new Mandala 2.0 High-Def Drum and Synthesizer.

To give players the top-of-the-line, most accurate model of a physical drum, Synesthesia sampled a vintage 5"x14" Black Beauty Snare with Super-Sensitive Snares. The samples were created to sound and feel live – capturing the reverberation and the ambient sounds, to make the experience on the Mandala as authentic as possible.

Synesthesia produced roughly 3,000 professionally created proprietary samples. The 3GB sample library is included for free with the new Mandala 2.0, and the DVD also is available for purchase to 1.0 customers for $29.95 (shipping is free for those who buy the DVD).

"The Super Sensitive Black Beauty is a classic drum, and we have digitally sampled hits in every possible position," said Vince De Franco, Synesthesia founder and CEO, and inventor of the Mandala. "These are top-quality sound samples, made to give Mandala owners an experience as close to playing the real thing as one can imagine."

Mandala 2.0 is the new version of Synesthesia's patented high-def drum and synthesizer, co-developed with professional drummer Danny Carey of the progressive rock band Tool. See it in action here.

Now a computer peripheral – its USB cable plugs into PC or Mac – the Mandala 2.0 is the only electronic drum that truly emulates an acoustic drum. It offers drummers and musical explorers the only drum pad that knows exactly where it's hit and how hard, across seven assignable zones with 128 sub-zones total – with an immediate trigger delivering the fastest-traveling sound possible.
