The Institute announces summer school programme
The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance has announced a partnership with the Thornton School of Music (part of the University of Southern California and one of the top music schools and conservatoires in the US), to deliver an innovative guitar summer school programme. This student-centered course will focus on building the necessary awareness and skills to enable participants to engage with and understand both artistic and commercial elements of the modern music industry.
The Thornton School celebrates the art of making and learning about music, and offers world class programs in everything from the music of early times to the most cutting edge music of today. The USC Thornton studio/jazz guitar department is considered one of the finest guitar programs in the world, boasting a faculty of world class touring and recording guitarists. The doctoral program in studio/jazz guitar is the first of its kind in the world.

This new summer programme is open to guitar students from both the Institute and the Thornton School, and will be delivered in London at Institute premises during summer 2008. It will be taught by staff from both the Institute and the Thornton School, thus providing offer a unique opportunity to students to learn from some of the finest practitioners and academics from both the UK and the US.
