The Wonders of Wildlife Museum will remain closed for renovations longer than previously announced — until early 2010.

But the designers say it will be worth the wait.

“I promise you we are going to give you one of the greatest living aquarium museums in this country,” said George Carameros, a Bass Pro designer who spoke to supporters who came Thursday for dinner, a slide show presentation and a tour of the building.

Presenters also announced an expansion of theCity of Heroes influenceBass Pro store. The hunting part of the store will nearly double to 35,030 square feet. The fishing area coh influencewill occupy the boat show room and increase about 25 percent to more than 21,000 square feet.

The fishing area of Bass Pro will not connect directly to the museum, City of Villains infamy but it will be designed so that those shopping in the fishing area will be able to see exhibits in the museum, said Peterson.

“It will coax people toward the museum, but they’ve got to go outside to get to the museum. That’s the idea, we’ll see some exhibits that will coax them,” said Peterson.

The third level of Bass Pro, where the shop operated its own displays, will become a part of the museum and will be rented to the museum for $1 a year. That area will connect directly to the museum. A statue of a large buck has been moved to the area to draw the attention of shoppers.

“I bet they’ll end up getting more people through there than the main entrance because Bass Pro is the most visited place in Missouri,” said Peterson.
