Ableton celebrates their SoundCloud teamup with a music making contest and by giving away free 5 month SoundCloud Pro accounts to Live users.

This new collaboration between two Berlin based companies aims to give way to more direct interaction among musicians, producers and listeners.

All current Ableton Live 8 and Suite 8 users will receive a free 5 month SoundCloud Pro account and can now upload music directly from within Live.

This premium 5 month account is valued at $190, and will give you 36 hours total storage, unlimited downloads, advanced statistics and better sharing options. This free gift will run until May 31, 2012. On the flipside, all SC users will receive a free license for Ableton Live Lite.

This direct connection between Ableton Live and SoundCloud gives you instant access to valuable listener feedback which makes the music making process more exciting. This joint effort will also fast track musical collaborations - ensuring that like minded musicians can get to work with you in a more efficient manner.

To celebrate this team-up, Ableton and SoundCloud will hold the "Beat the Clock" contest. The contest will run from May 14 through May 28. Atmospheric pop specialists M83, indie electronic stars Junior Boys and eclectic Los Angeles beat maker Nosaj Thing will provide a Live Pack of samples and sounds to be used to create an original piece of music. Contestants will then have to literally beat the clock and submit their complete original musical production within 24 hours of downloading the Live Pack.

The top 25 entries will be decided by online voting, while the ultimate winner is going to be picked by the three artists that provided the Live Pack samples. The prize for winning includes a trip to Berlin, Lifetime upgrades to Ableton Suite, a 5 years SoundCloud Pro Plus account and other valuable prizes.
