VST MIDI Sequencers

VSTi MIDI Sequencers

Most major MIDI sequencers are VST Hosts, however sometimes you want a sequencer that is a VSTi plugin.

Here we have compiled a list of MIDI sequencers that you can use as a plugin.

ERA2

Windows - Demo

An advanced step-sequencer-plugin, now from Sugar Bytes, which communicates with the host and other plugins. It consists of 12 trigger-rows, which can be routed independently to plugins. Each row contains 16 steps but patterns can be easily (unlimited) chained. There are special drum-programming and piano-roll views.

BallSequencer

Windows - Free

A sequencer VSTi based around the idea of midinotes being generated by balls moving around inside a rectangular area. Notes are triggered whenever a ball collides with the boundary of the rectangle. You can set parameters that will control the movement of each ball, in addition to possible note and velocity values.

MiniSeries

Windows - Free

A MIDI sequencer inspired by serial composition techniques. It is intended for rhythmic and experimental applications and geared towards live use. Eight MIDI note assignments are indexed by a counter, which is modulated by three LFOs, two random step modulators and several performance-oriented GUI controls. The multi-trigger element from Circuit VSTi creates rhythmic articulations and can be controlled from the GUI or by modulators.

reViSiT Pro

Windows - Free

This application comes from a Tracker background and includes MIDI sequencing as well audio recording, video synchronisation, effects processing, mastering, scoring, and more. You can join the research experiment to get the Pro version for free - or download the Standard version straight away.
