The X32 is a 32-channel, 16-bus and 40-bit digital mixer with programmable preamps made by Midas, a company which Behringer recently acquired.

To shake off the quality related doubts that have been haunting prospective Behringer consumers, Behringer invested $20 million to acquire manufacturing expertise and equipment that will ensure hardware quality alongside impressive audio.

To start off the X32, Behringer worked together with Midas and Klark Teknik to design the mic preamps and A/D converters. According to Behringer, the new mic preamps provide good CMRR (common mode rejection) and very low harmonic distortion, this ensures a clean foundation on which to add modern digital mixer technology.

This new digital mixer is equipped with 32 console mic inputs controlled by 17 backlit buttons and 13 rotary controls with LED collars per channel strip. You can adjust each channel's compressor, 4-band parametric EQ and many more. To make the workflow more intuitive, Behringer added a unique labeling feature to the X32, instead of using old school tape labeling, each input has assignable LCD scribble strips that will instantly tell you what sound goes into each channel. The mixer also comes with a netbook-resolution 800x400 TFT color display which further helps you in monitoring and controlling the mixer.

A noteworthy addition to the Behringer X32 is its fully automated motorized 100mm faders. These faders give you instant visual feedback on your settings. Combined with the X32's scene management system which can capture snapshots of production mixes, the X32 allows for a more convenient and quicker production set up. For even more convenience, you can fully configure the Behringer X32 with your favorite iOS device while moving around the venue.

The X32 also comes with a virtual FX rack that feature 8 Stereo effects slots that include chorus, delay, dynamics, reverbs and graphic EQ. These effects include simulations of Lexicon 480L and PCM70, EMT 250 and Quantec QRS.

As a bonus, the X32 ships with a XUF Firewire/USB Audio interface card pre-installed into the expansion slot. This interface provides low latency interfacing with your computer and your DAW. The mixer is also compatible with CoreAudio for Mac OS X and ASIO drivers for Windows PC users. Basic USB connection is also available for file storage, uncompressed stereo recordings, show presets and system updates.
