The design used on this monitor is based on the Hercules XPS 2.080 DJ monitor speakers, focused on reproducing the frequencies that DJs need to hear the most, while retaining a reasonable price tag.

The engineers at Hercules utilized anechoic chamber and test benches to come up with a design that will meet the needs of DJs.

According to Hercules, it took them two years to develop the DJ Monitor 5, and they also enlisted professional DJs to help in designing and testing the monitors.

The speakers were carefully designed down to the minutest details, including the positions of controls, the shapes of the controls, the volume knob’s position markers, and the location of the bass ports on the speakers.

This compact monitor system is meant to address the needs of DJs and producers, providing optimal audio rendering during mixing sessions, as well as simple yet flexible audio monitoring.

Each speaker houses one Silk-dome tweeter and a 5-inch kevlar membrane woofer rated at 50 watts RMS. The housing is crafted from MDF and features two ports on the front for improved bass response.

Audio inputs include RCA, TRS and XLR. Controls are straightforward, it has an on/off button on the front, LED power indicator, a master volume knob and a power supply selector.

The Hercules DJ Monitor 5 is scheduled for a September launch and is expected to have a retail price of around $385. Visit Hercules for more information.
