IK Multimedia announces the availability of iRig Pre, a mobile microphone interface and preamp for iOS Devices.

This accessory lets you conveniently connect your favorite microphone to your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.

With the iRig Pre, you can now use high quality stage or studio microphones with the various available iOS music production apps. Your mic easily plugs into the standard XLR connector of iRig PRE with out the need for any bulky hardware, extra cables or adapters.

It comes with its very own mic preamp designed specifically for use with iOS devices. It features an adjustable thumbwheel gain control that will let you will let you make precise level settings.

The preamp can also provide enough voltage for +48V phantom-powered studio condenser microphones, thanks to its 9V battery. With one battery, you can use a phantom powered condenser for at least 10 hours.

This microphone interface is commendable because of its compact size and simple operation. The iRig packs its features inside an ultra-compact design that easily fits inside any pocket. It is just slightly larger than a 9 volt battery, which is convenient for transport but could just as easily be misplaced.

The device comes with a 40 cm (15.75") TRRS cable which conveniently connects to iOS device headset jacks, making it compatible even with the new iPhone 5 and its modified USB connector plug. A headphone output is also provided for self-monitoring purposes.

Finally, IK Multimedia will let you download two free apps from the App Store: iRig Recorder FREE, a simple-to-use waveform recorder and editor, and VocaLive FREE, our premium live vocal effects processor. These apps will help you get started recording and "effectualizing" your voice through your iOS device.
