The Mackie Master Fader App is now available, giving you a preview of what the upcoming Mackie DL1608 Mixer can do.

This app is Mackie's teaser, letting us peak into the iPad control application that will come with the the DL-1608 Mixer hardware. It is also a great opportunity for prospective buyers to virtually "try" the digital mixer before they actually buy.

Ben Olswang, Mackie product manager, said: "There’s been a tremendous amount of interest in the DL1608… especially surrounding the user interface. That’s why we wanted to release the Master Fader control app as soon as possible. Anybody interested in the Mackie DL1608 can get their hands on the intuitive touch control app before the mixer hits the shelves."

The Mackie Master Fader App is designed to provide you with full control over the Mackie DL1608 Digital Live Sound Mixer. It is designed to prioritize efficiency and the use of apps. It eliminates unnecessary screens and avoids redundancies, the Master Fader control app offers simple navigation, wired or wirelessly, in conjunction with the Mackie DL1608 hardware.

Since this is just a preview version, the operational version will also be available via iTunes App Store, along with future updates. Some features are still unavailable, but will be working as soon as the DL1608 mixer is available.

If you haven't heard yet, the Mackie DL1608 is a digital mixer that is controlled by an iPad. It combines quality mixer hardware with the portability and convenience of an iPad controller. The hardware comes with 16 boutique-quality Onyx mic preamps and 24-bit Cirrus Logic AD/DA converters. It also provides plug-ins such as dynamics, EQ, effects and many more. For even more convenient control, the DL1608 can connect with up to 10 iPad devices simultaneously.

The DL1608 Digital Mixer is anticipated to be available beginning in August of 2012.
