Moog Music plans to discontinue the Minimoog Voyager Select Series at the end of 2012, and offers discounted prices for the last units.
Moog will continue building the Select Series through the end of the year, with the last batch leaving the factory on Jan 1, 2013, if supplies will last that long.
The Minimoog Voyager Select Series allows you to customize your own Minimoog Voyager, letting you choose between mahogany, electric blue, traditional ash, white wash, maple, black, cherry, and walnut cabinets.
This custom series will also let you pick your backlighting color, you can choose between red, blue, white, orange, green, or purple. These customization options makes the Voyager Select a truly personalized instrument, matching the attitude and style of the artist.
The Select Series has grown in popularity since its inception, and is currently being used in studios and on stages worldwide. It has shared the stage with big name artists like Lady Gaga, Madonna, Dr. Dre, Alicia Keys, CeeLo Green and Sugarland.
Unfortunately time has come for Moog music to close the doors on this customizable minimoog, but they will do so with a bonus, because during the remaining months of production, they are reducing the selling price on all Select Series Voyagers from $3,659 to $2,999.
Mike Adams, CEO of Moog Music Inc, said: “We felt it was important to give musicians who had always dreamt of customizing a handcrafted Voyager a final chance to build one at an unprecedented price. We are a small company that still builds by hand, so sometimes we have to make hard decisions about ending the life of even our most favorite products. However, history has shown that discontinued Minimoogs, like the Model D and the Old School, have a tendency to become highly sought after collector's items. I'm sure we'll see them on stages and in studios for years to come.”
