The truth about major labels

I'm by no means an expert in the music
business world like David Hooper, but by years of listening to music and following all types of artist, I think I can make this small comment. I agree with David on this respect when in comes to bands. I think this article should point out that the major labels treat "groups/bands" this way. But when it comes to individual acts, especially in the pop and rap genre, all they want is to get an artist out there that has the look and personality, with a little dancing thrown in, who could generate units for them. Some of them do have talent, but most of them don't have a good foundation in place. And a lot of them have learned from other peoples mistakes (will established acts i.e Missy Elliot, Timbuland, etc. as their mentors won't let them get the short end of the stick). So for those of you who have a dream of being a pop star, go for it, but make sure you don't get the short end of the stick!!!!
