In my opinion, If your band is good, and entertain well, you will get reconition. I dont beleive there is a catch. Im not in the biz, Im just some 18 guy with tracks on mp3.com/oxygenfad .
So maybe what Im saying is dumb and ignorant,but to me thats how I see music. If your good and your marketable you have a really good chance.
P.S. Last time I checked KMFDM wrote a song called "KMFDM sucks" and also they stated in this song "... Our lyrics are crap ..." (for those that dont know MDFMK is KMFDM just with like one less guy, and now they are KMFDM again )

Music made by some guy that doesnt make money off his music
