AIYAN,
I'm assuming you are using Windows.
There is a separate RECORDING mixer and you probably don't have the proper input selected.
Double-click on the speaker icon on your taskbar and the Volume Control mixer will open.
Click on the Options menu selection, and then click on Properties - this will open a Properties box.
Here you should select Recording and then make sure the input you want enabled has a check by it in the volume control box. Then click OK.
That box will close and the mixer will change to the Recording Control mixer. Click the selection box on the input you need - most likely Line In - and drag the volume slider for it up 1/2 or 3/4 of the way.
When sound is coming in the input you will see a level meter bouncing up and down next to the volume slider. If you see action on the meter then you will be able to record.
Play your selection and adjust the volume slider so it never goes into the red - red means your recording will be distorted.
Hope this helps,
Highball
