: : If Magix wanted to offer audio software with professional attributes
: Hi Ed,
: Weak? wow! I have version 3 and i must say it is not weak. i think it does a fine job. i have an old set of colombia jazz classics records; i captured them using my stereo and on-board sound card. then i used the software to take out some clicks and some noise, improve stereo seperation and get the levels consistent between tracks.
: overall, the project came out great. I think I paid $20 for version 3. Worth every penny. Very powerful software, with professional features consistent with packages costing much, much more.
: As to the capture rate, I wouldn't know. It is my understanding that the capture rate is a primary function of the sound card, which is the limiting factor in most cases.
: I went to Magix's web site to see if they had a demo of v.2004 yet. No, but they do have version 3 as a free (limited use) demo.
: Anyway, for most of us buying a $40 program, I bet Magix has hit the mark between price, power and value. I would give it a strong buy recommendation. I have seen version 3 for $10 at J&R, which is also a good deal, imho.
