by Geoff Nicholson When Madonna spoofed P2P networks with fake tracks from her new 'American Life' album, she got more than she bargained for in return. ...Continued Madonna spoofs P2P, then gets hacked! Madonna.com was promptly hacked in reply to the distribution of files containing little more than the diva asking "What the fuck do you think you are doing?" The front page of Madonna.com was replaced with a new page featuring a bold reply: "This is what the fuck I think I'm doing". Links to new Madonna tracks were included in the hack, as well as a derogatory comment comment about the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Liz Rosenberg, Madonna's spokesperson, said the hack was not any kind of publicity stunt designed to attract attention to the release of the 'American Life' album. Madonna.com was reportedly offline for 15 hours while technicians restored the site. Madonna joins the esteemed ranks of music industry conservatives to have been hacked in recent years. Metallica and the RIAA are two high profile opponents of unauthorized file-sharing. The RIAA site has been altered by hackers, as well as being a well-known target of denial of service attacks.
