...Continued Dre bans Napster users, Napster fix released and Motley Crue's swipe at Metallica

Rapper Dr. Dre has reportedly taken action leading to the banning of over 230,000 Napster users, according to www.cybertropix.com and CNet.

Dre E-mailed Napster Inc. with names users that are alleged to have infringed on Dre's copyrights by downloading, exchanging or making his songs available. He also demanded that these Napster offenders be banned from the popular service. Dr. Dre's demands were met by Napster.

"The artist Dr. Dre has requested that your access to Napster be terminated for alleged copyright infringement," read a statement from the company that appeared in place of the service itself.

As with the Metallica ban, Napster users can challenge the action by appealing. Those who appeal will be reinstated within two weeks unless they are officially sued by Dr. Dre.

In other Napster news
An unnamed group of open-source application developers have released a free software patch that will permit the user to create a new account on the Napster network, essentially negating any block or ban. Get your Napster fix here.

Who said Napster ruins careers?
Motley Crue have joined forces with Camp Chaos Entertainment, the web-based animators that produced the "Napster BAD!" Metallica spoof that recently hit the web. Now there's "MetalliGreed," featuring bassist Nikki Sixx, vocalist Vince Neil, and allegedly, guitarist Mick Mars passing judgement on Metallica. Of course, it's also a handy plug for their 'Hell on high heels' MP3 download as well as their 'Maximum Rock 2000' tour.
