Press release IUMA takes on MP3.com's Payback for Playback program. ...Continued Underground musicians get a pay rise The Internet Underground Music Archive has extended its ad-sharing program to include paying artists for downloads and streams of their music. Effective today, IUMA artists will be paid each time an MP3 or Real Audio file is streamed or downloaded from their IUMA site. Artists will be able to use IUMA's new site stats section to receive detailed reports on traffic, downloads, streams and revenues associated with their music. "Our artists told us that being paid each time a music fan listened or downloaded their songs was more important than being paid each time someone looked at their site," said Jeff Patterson, IUMA founder, and guitarist in the Ugly Mugs. "We decided we should pay them for both." The new initiatives extend the ad-sharing program IUMA launched in December 1999, and further demonstrate IUMA's commitment to fairly compensate artists for their work.
