I agree with your comments, essentially.
I do have to point out, however, that today's kids have discussions over a computer. Very different from when we grew up. And all the music out there has some sort of inane language about sex, women, homophobes, etc. It used to be people were up in arms about a certain singer swaying his hips. Things have changed, and although youth today could be questioned for wanting 'free music'; it's certainly nothing like 30 years ago when kids all wanted 'free love'. Sure, they may be foul mouthed, but at least they fight for what they want and what they think is true. They need to be looked at as more than dollar signs, by their parents, the recording industry, everyone. They're people. I'd be pissed, too.
