Whether Napster will live on into the future is already being hotly debated, as are the issues surrounding copyright and artists' desire to protect their music.

We're not going to give you the usual feed of news here. If you're following Napster, you've no doubt read about the legal proceedings of last week. Instead, we're going to quickly point you to a few interesting stories that have popped up and are certainly worth reading for entertainment value alone.

Anti-Napster guerrilla faces user wrath
Michael Fix decided to unleash 'Cuckoo Eggs' into Napster. The eggs masqueraded as well-known songs, but were anything but when played. Fix wanted to 'fix' piracy, but got fixed himself when Napster users sent threatening emails. It wasn't long before he started receiving harrassing phone calls, either. At the time of writing, his website is unavailable.

US Swaps 11 Million Hours Of Music Via Napster - Survey
Apparently, it would take 463,000 days to play all the music exchanged by American Napster users during June. Bad news for the R.I.A.A. - Napster is only increasing in popularity!

Legal battles boost Napster to top spot
Napster takes the top spot away from RealPlayer.com to become the busiest entertainment site. Other file-sharing sites experience massive traffic surges.

German IFPI Wants To Delete Hyperlinks To Napster.com
German webmasters receive a request to delete all hyperlinks to the Napster site. They refuse.

Napster backlash? RIAA site crippled
Legitimate requests to a web server can act in the same way as a denial of service attack if the server cannot meet demand.
