By Scott R. Garrigus. I talked about launching other programs from within Cakewalk via the Tools menu in the July 2000 issue of DigiFreq. ...Continued DFreqTIP - Editing your Cakewalk Audio with Sound Forge This technique is especially useful when you want to edit your audio data externally using a digital audio editing application like Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge. One problem that you might encounter, however, is if you want to edit the audio data in an entire track although that data is split into several different clips. If you select all the clips in the track and then launch Sound Forge, the program will open separate editing windows for each of the clips in your track instead of opening all the data in one window. To remedy this situation, you might think that you can simply right-click on the selected clips in the track view and select Combine from the pop-up menu to turn them into one big clip. But guess what? That doesn't work. Instead, you need to open the selected track in the audio view, right-click on the selected data, choose Combine from the pop-up menu, make the appropriate choice in the dialog box that appears, and click OK. This will turn your separate clips in a true single clip that when launched into Sound Forge will appear within a single window, ready and waiting to be edited. Scott R.
