Making available $1 million each month since May and more than $7 million since the program started in November 1999, the Payback for Playback program rewards digital artists who post music and audio files on the site.

One digital artist on MP3.com who has generated thousands of dollars through the Payback for Playback program is Cedric Simon (www.mp3.com/cedric). A jazz guitarist in Strasbourg, France, Simon has seen his Payback for Playback earnings grow in the four months since he joined the MP3.com artist community.

"This Payback for Playback model is unique because you get paid for your music, not for the hits your web page gets," said Simon. "And for a musician, this really makes a difference. I remember how proud I was of the first dollar I got, generated by the fact that my music was listened to. Thanks to MP3.com, my music has been heard more than 150,000 times. I've had tons of positive feedback by emails, and I've met wonderful artists online."

All eligible content owners who post music and audio files on MP3.com have the opportunity to participate in the Payback for Playback promotion. Musicians interested in joining MP3.com's community of artists can register to post music at www.mp3.com/newartist.
