By Alex Keaton The big question here is 'why not?'. I know a guy who has played in a number of bands over the past decade. During that time he has never tried to produce a CD. ...Continued Make your CD now! He didn't feel that he had the talent or the ability to create something he would be truely proud of. Therefore he's exactly in the same position he was in a year ago. Or five. So why not get into it right NOW! Have fun and learn something. Document yourself. Sure, the first attempts may be rough - but what do you expect? You don't even need a studio or a CD burner to get started. And forget all that nonsense about 'great music'. Music is music is music is music. If you make it and you enjoy it, you're just as valid as the next guy. Here's what a few people I know do. They set up an account on MP3.com and upload their music. Then they set up a DAM CD and buy a few copies for themselves. Yes, it's little more than a vanity disc. But it serves a real purpose. You get to have fun making your own artwork and bio. You get an important back-up copy of the music you've made. And you've got a source of presents for family and friends ;) If you decide that you want to take things a step further, you can certainly invest the time and the money. But for anyone just starting out, it's a great project to work on. It's also a blast having your very own CD in your hands. You've done what Nirvana, Korn or The Prodigy did. You released a CD!
