...Continued How do you? Where can I get? What do I need?

We get a lot of mail sent to us every day from people asking everything from 'Why aren't I getting any sound out of my speakers?' to 'How would I program my own MP3 player?'. While there's no such thing as a stupid question, we thought we'd start collating our own Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to help you find and do things quicker.

Question: I play the guitar and am desperately looking for a simple program which would allow me to record myself with my microphone. Do you know anything about that ?
Yes! There are many programs that will allow you to do this. You will find them in the Audio recording and Audio Editing sections. My personal pick is Cool Edit 2000

Question: Where is your search engine?
You'll find the search engine at http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/search/. You can also use it to track down software news, tutorials and sheet music.

Question: Where can I upload my music to your site?
We don't host peoples' music on Shareware Music Machine. At present we're concentrating on making sure we're up to date with the world of software. If you're in a band or play a guitar, you might want to get listed in the GuitarSite.com database. For free music hosting, check out MP3.com.

Question: Do you have an mp3 converter on your site that I could use for my Web page I'm currently working on.
You'll find many MP3 converters in our MP3 section at www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/MP3/. Cool Edit 2000 has MP3 functionality, while MP3 Blaster is also quite useful.

Question: Can I mix two mp3's together and record a new MP3 from the two that were previously mixed?
You certainly can! You'll find what you're looking for in our DJ/remix section http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/RE-MIXING_DJ/. Here are two suggestions: PHAT PCDJ and Virtual Turntables 1.8.
