you may need to turn the motherboard's midi off in the BIOS.... u can get to BIOS by usually pressing Del or F2 at startup... it will say

then turn the motherboard's midi off,... might work, might not

maybe your problem is the wire, some gameport to usb adaptors WILL NOT support midi

a perfect solution is a midi to usb connector, they cost around $40- $50
