...Continued DFreqTIP - Speed up your Sound Forge Sessions

This is especially true if you're working with a very large audio file. There is a way to speed up the processing of Sound Forge, but it's not useful for all situations because it involves disabling the Undo function.

WARNING: By disabling the Undo function, you run the risk of losing data. Without the Undo function, there is no way for you to reverse any of the processing that you apply to your audio data. At the very least, you should make a back up copy of your original audio file before you attempt to do any editing.

Disabling the Undo function frees Sound Forge from having to create a new copy of your file every time you apply processing. This makes a significant difference in the speed at which Sound Forge operates and it can come in handy during those sessions that you know exactly what processing you want to apply and you need to apply it quickly.

To disable the Undo function, do the following:
1) Choose Options>Preferences to open the Preferences dialog box.
2) Click on the Editing tab.
3) Activate the Limit Number Of Undo Buffers To option. And then enter a value of 0.
4) Activate the Limit Number Of Redo Buffers To option. And then enter a value of 0.
5) Click OK.
6) Click OK twice to close both dialog boxes.
7) Exit Sound Forge.
8) Run Sound Forge.

Now any processing you do to your files will be permanent, but it will be completed much more quickly. You can use the time you save to make even more music!
