...Continued NOTATION SOFTWARE TUTORIAL: Amadeus Opus Lite

Note: You'll need to install Amadeus Opus Lite before you start. Download either the Windows or Mac version.

This is intended to give as much insight into the workings of Amadeus as possible. Spending an hour or two with this tutorial should leave you ready to begin working on your music. Obviously, we cannot cover everything, so keep your manual handy.

Also, Amadeus was developed using the Opus professional version source code. You will notice there are a few items in the menus and sub menus that will not respond when you click on them. These items are fully operational in Opus.

From the File menu, click New. Amadeus Opus Lite gives you a preview window that allows you to set up your score before beginning to enter notes, text, or other items. Do not click the OK button in this main window until you have your score set up exactly the way you want it. When the New Document Window appears, click on the "voice" from tab A.

A single 3 stave system pre-set for voice and piano will appear. The word "Untitled" will appear twice in the "Staves" window. Click on the "single" button from tab A.

A fourth stave will appear. Any number or type of staves may be added in this manner. Click on the last "Untitled" in the "Staves" window to highlight it. Click on the "delete staff" button. You will again have a total of three staves.

Amadeus Opus Lite includes percussion staves. Click on the button to the left of the word "custom". You have now added a percussion stave. Hold down the shift key on your computer keyboard and click on the bottom "Untitled" in the "Staves" window to highlight it. Click on the "delete staff" button. You will again have a total of three staves.
