...Continued A spark to start the fire

The first thing you're likely to notice about this little gem is how fast it works. Papayatech TuneSpark CD Maker is so very simple to use yet it features almost everything that the garden variety audiophile is looking for.

TuneSpark runs under Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000 PC with minimum system requirements of a Pentium 133 and 16MB RAM.

The interface is divided into three main panes:

The vertical Navigation pane located on the left side of the interface provides navigation to the four main elements of TuneSpark at all times and during all processes, similar to the function of sheet tabs within a spreadsheet document. Each element is represented by a highlighting icon and caption.

The horizontal Menu pane located along the top edge of the interface contains extensive Help, quick drop-down menu navigation between the four elements and the obligatory Exit.

The main pane within the interface is where it all happens - upon startup you are presented with four choices under the headings 'CD Creator', 'Convert Center', 'My Devices' and 'Options':

  1. CD Creator
    • Burn MP3/WMA and wave files directly into audio CDs without creating temporary wave files
    • Support MP3 (32Kbps to 320Kbps), WMA (all bitrates), WAV(all sample rates) - files don't need to be CD-quality
    • Support DAO(Disc-At-Once), SAO(Session-At-Once), TAO(Track at Once) and Raw write
    • Burn-Proof technology support
    • 80 minutes CDs
    • On-the-fly normalizing - volume levels normalized as you burn
    • Option to eliminate 2 second delay between tracks
    • Drag'n drop support

normalize and track pause options

  1. Convert Center
    • Convert between MP3(all bitrates) , WMA (all bitrates), and WAV(all sample rates)
    • Batch convert
    • Drag'n drop support

encode to MP3
  1. My Devices
    • Identifies the brand, model, and the read and write capabilities of the CD-R/CD-RW drive installed on your computer
  1. Options
    • In here you control the decode buffer size, screen saver disable, normalizing and track pause options of the CD Creator and specify the output folder for converted files.
There some other interesting features you don't see every day in CD burning software, like 'Tip of the day' which provides insight into all the handy features within the software and Automatic Screen Saver disabling - how many times has that blasted screen saver started up during a CPU intensive process and frozen (or crashed) your computer?

Best of all, the download is less than 3.0 MB file size and registration is only US$29.95. Download the shareware version now for free!
