| multi-track recording problem with cool edit pro |

I have a problem recording when using the multi-track mode in cool edit pro. When i start recording on track 2 it re-records everything from track 1 and so on. I tried muting "wave" and it works, but is there some other way to do that without out using mute. please help. thanks
