Hi there, I'm a little late on the feedback because I just started recording, but, I assume the reason you can't/shouldn't be able to hear while you are recording is because of a feedback issue. If you listen to yourself with anything but headphones, your sound will loop back into the mic/guitar and create massive feedback (high pitch whine) into the music you are trying to create...get headphones to listen while you are recording.
