: If your pre-recorded tracks are playing through your computer speakers while you record your synth track and your computer mic is enabled that could be the reason why you can't isolate your synth track from the other tracks. Assuming you are using "line in" as your input make sure your mic input is unchecked in the volume control panel. Or just use a headphone instead to monitor the prerecorded tracks.

: I am trying to record a software synth as a wave straight into a multitrack channel. But because I have my record device set to 'record wave' the recorder is of course also picking up the previously recorded waves already in the multitrack session. Short of panning all my other tracks hard left and the record wave hard right, I don't know what to do. What to do?
