First of all mp3 downloading in itself is not bootlegging. Bootlegging is when you sell music without giving the artist there money. But if it is given to you as a gift then why should you pay the artists anything? If you bought a cd for a friend or family member for Christmas you would'nt have them pay royalties to the artists so why would file swapping be any different? As long as you don't make many copies and sell the music as profit for yourself then it's legal for personal use.
Just because music artists are losing revenue it does'nt mean that all the consumers should just give up there mp3s and file sharing networks becuase of some sore losers.The Fact is music artists have to change the way they make money.higher ticket prices for concerts I mean you can't download a nosebleed seat!File sharing is no different than buying a brand new cd still in the shrink wrap and giving it to your little brother as a gift and then having your little brother give it to his friend that gives it to his or her brother then pawning it of to the pawnshop! Any one in the music industry that thinks file sharing is stealing is just being a sore loser.This is America if your not banking enough money then you should change the way you do business and not force consumers to change there spending habits. people have the right to share there music with others. Music is met to be free and if the music industry is hurting so much then why is MTV cribs still running?I've yet to see music artists that have losteverything because of mp3 file sharing craze! This is capitalism at it's best if your not bankin then then your SOL
