What a great statement- "If you want to listen to free music, turn on the radio". But God forbid you should record what you hear... First off, let me say that I think it's beyond pathetic that Metallica, for example, would bite the hand that feeds, and turn to the same people that have made them rich, and said "Sorry- thanks for all the millions, but we refuse to give anything back". I have never been more ashamed of anyone- I was a Metallica fan once upon a time- but honestly, after this whole battle over music sharing, I have discovered many new uses for Metallica CD's. (I.E. teaching my dog to fetch, skeet shooting, etc.) Here's the bottom line. Recording Mp3's onto a cd is not even close to the same quality as the real thing. Mp3's are great to preview music, before you wasted money on an album like the shit Metallica has been putting out, just to find out that there are only two good songs on the disc, and the rest is half-assed. Madonna actually said it best when she stated that if an artist puts 100% into an album, then why wouldn't people buy the whole thing. After all, the liner notes, and art work are half the presentation. It should be up to the artist if they share their music or not. As far as bands like Metallica- they don't even deserve the time it takes to download the files.
