Fermata is available only as an Internet direct download from Opcode's web site, and costs $59.95. This follows a recent announcement of Vision DSP, Opcode's Macintosh audio and MIDI sequencer, being sold on the web for $59.95. "We're ecstatic about the response we've received with our aggressive Internet direct version of Vision DSP. It confirms our opinion that there are many new customers who are motivated by quality and value." stated Tom Sherman, VP of Product Marketing at Opcode. "We're delighted to offer this top-notch notation product at a very low price direct to the end user or school. Fermata is a fully featured notation package and is ideal for both professional and educational environments." Fermata is an easy to use Macintosh notation software package that's powerful enough to satisfy today's demanding musician. Its intuitive interface uses tear off palettes to keep all of Fermata's professional features a mere keystroke or mouse click away. From full scores to simple lead sheets, Fermata can handle most common notation situations with ease. With MIDI recording and playback Fermata is a wonderful companion product for Vision DSP users. Key features include lyrics, OMS support, Smart Guitar Tablature, Graphic editing of MIDI data with Opcode's Strip Chart (also found in Vision DSP), EPS file capture, Part extraction with automatic transposition, MIDI playback with dynamics, a Jazz Articulation palette, Standard MIDI file support and much more. Included with Fermata are the complete Bach Chorales and a host of template score files. The $59.95 web download version of Fermata is a full version of the software application including OMS and software PDF file manuals. The product is sold without technical support of any kind. Opcode has also announced that it plans to offer a free copy of Fermata to any school and a special site license for use within the entire school.
