Software Description

4A Studio gives the sound engineer an easy-to-use set of powerful modules: DVDaudio (currently at version 5), MGvolumizer (currently at version 2), RMSdoctor (currently at version 3) and SpeedCompress (currently at version 1). Each module has been designed with efficiency and special abilities geared towards its specific purpose.

DVDaudio: What it does

Sound engineering, in the mastering (or strictly speaking, pre-mastering) phase of an audio file. Geared specifically towards: Home users wishing to make their AVI conversions uniformly loud throughout the entire movie soundtrack. Also ideal for the professional sound engineer on contract to TV stations or even big-budget movie productions. Traditionally, this type of work was very time consuming and often resulted in pumping artifacts throughout the end-result. With DVDaudio, compression is once again easy and fun on any project.

Mgvolumizer: What it does

Sound engineering, in the mastering (or strictly speaking, pre-mastering) phase of an audio file. Geared specifically towards: Home users wishing to make their best recordings even punchier, without bad side effects. Also ideal for the professional sound engineer on contract record release products. Traditionally, this type of work could only be handled by the most experienced sound engineers on expensive hardware. With MGvolumizer, compression is once again easy and fun on any project.

RMSdoctor: What it does

Sound engineering, in the mastering (or strictly speaking, pre-mastering) phase of one (or more – now has batch power mode!) audio file(s). Geared specifically towards: Home users wishing to make their audio file’s volume match up to a specific RMS value. Great for making a party CD or uniform loop archives. Also ideal for the professional sound engineer on contract to pop compilation productions or sampling productions. Traditionally, this type of work was very time consuming and often resulted in unbalanced media-wide volume levels. With RMSdoctor, compression is once again easy and fun on any project.

SpeedCompress: What is it

Sound engineering, in the mastering (or strictly speaking, pre-mastering) phase of an audio file. Geared specifically towards: Home users wishing to make their draft recordings less dynamic and more punchy. Also ideal for the professional sound engineer on contract to economy clients needing rougher than perfect sound*. Traditionally, this kind of compression, despite being prone to audible defects, required years of experience for acceptable results. With SpeedCompress, compression is once again easy and fun on any project.

*Note: Unlike the other modules in 4A, SpeedCompress can produce audible defects if pushed beyond an acceptable limit of compression. You’ll notice a possible crackling in the higher volume area of a track which has been driven overboard. This is due to the logarithmic nature of the high-speed algorithm inside SpeedCompress. Please take this into consideration when applying severe dynamic range compression using this module.

Supported formats

Stereo PCM wave files, sampled at either 44,100 or 48,000 Hz, recorded to a depth of 16 bits. Theoretically, any length up to approximately 200 minutes, considering that uncompressed PCM wave files require 10.09 MB per minute (as supported in the above specified 44.1kHz format) – this depends on available physical RAM in your computer system. In layman’s terms, most CD-burnable audio tracks fit this category. Occasionally, software is unfortunately developed which creates non-standard PCM files. If you think 4A Studio should be able to operate correctly on the above mentioned format specifications but it seems to cause problems: You’re probably using one of those mentioned faulty software programs. Solution: Stop using non-compliant products and switch to a reliable audio editing package!

4A Studio 2.06

Good-day All

After reading the specs on the 4A Studio, I licked my chops, and though, hmmmmm, this could really be a quick mastering tool. But ya know it must have been to good to be true. The must be down or having some techincal issues, because I can't get to it. Not even going to the authors site Wavegenix. So if anyone has this demo, I'd like to check it out, before Upgrading to the pro version.
