Software Description

BackToBasics, now developed at Bludgeonsoft, is the premier digital sample triggering software for today's - and yesterday's - advanced computers.

BackToBasics is geared toward live performance, no delayed quantized playing or locked time signatures and no MIDI sequencing, just real-time triggering of raw or manipulated samples. With BackToBasics you can turn your computer into a truly live audio performance tool. 'Just say NO' to 'just hit play' electronic musicians!

Using BackToBasics, you can separately configure 47 keys on your computer keyboard to play any number of stereo sounds at one time (limited only by your sound card) while controlling each sample's pitch, volume, loop type, and more.

That was an old version i think. Version 9 uses folders.

Mac Classic amd BTB?

Can I run BTB on a Mac Classic? - I would like to use it as an alternative, and indeed funny looking, 8 bit sampler - for live performances.

But can the classic run the prog?

BackToBasics on the Road!

This is great in the car! I can make all
kinds of different car horn sounds including
a sample of Dirk Bennedict yelling "Get out Of MY WAY!!!"
People in other cars really take notice. I have
my powerbook hooked up to me big ass
car stereo (3000 Watts), with two of my speakers
pointing out the sunroof towards oncomming traffic.!
GET OUT OF MY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rookie

I'm a rookie with digital music but i have a home recording
studio from the stone age. I'm looking for a system for
my new G3 that will allow me to use a keyboard and
have full recording studio capabilities. I would like
recommendationds for a small footprint keyboard and
the appropriate software to mix some tracks. I am an
intermediate level mac user so it has to be technically
realistic, however I'm willing to study if the products
can deliver. thanks so much for even dealing with this.
Any help is appreciated - Your servant, Bob

Bob,

You should try using the latest version of BackToBasics software.
BackToBasics is a great program for your new G3 system and it's keyboard!
We have found that the smallest keyboard that you can hook up to BackToBasics
is the external numberpad for laptops. This wonderful hardware/software solution
is perfect for an intermediate user such as yourself. BackToBasics can deliver!
