Software Description

Powerhouse all-in-one multimedia software offering conversion, ripping, editing, recording, burning, playback (including full playlist and full screen video support), and much more. Powerful, yet easy to use audio, video (VCD), and data CD/DVD burning are all fully supported. Other advanced features include video capture, video creation/combining/extraction, video editing, batch video processing, media management, audio merge, MusicID audio recognition, lyrics search, audio tag editing, CDDB/CDDB2/FreeDB support, and more. The audio content of video files can be extracted and saved to sound files, and frames can also be extracted to images files in batch mode. Video files can also be created from still frame images and/or other videos.

Supported conversions include: CD to WAV, MP3, WMA, and OGG; MP3/WMA/OGG/WAV/AIF/VOX/MP2/MPC/G.72x/AU/RAW to MP3/WMA/OGG/WAV; WAV/MP3/WMA/OGG to CD burning, WAV/MP3 Compression, and two-way conversions among MPEG-1, MPEG-2, AVI, WMV, Multi-Page TIFF, and FLIC. MPEG options are available for VCD, SVCD, and DVD compliant output. When converting from audio CD, track information can be dynamically downloaded from the CDDB and used to automatically name saved files.

Video editing is available for AVI (uncompressed), AVI (compressed using any available codec), MPEG-1, MPEG-2, WMV, and ASF. Comprehensive video editing operations are provided (delete frame, delete selection, crop, resize, rotate, mirror, flip, trim, text overlay, adjust audio volume, etc.). In addition, an extensive list of over 30 effects and color adjustment operations allow for powerful video enhancement and alternation. WAV, WMA, and MP3 audio files can be inserted into the video or extracted from the video; and BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, PNG, RAS, PPM, TGA, and TIF are the supported image formats that can be inserted or extracted. Most video processing operations can also be performed in batch mode on a list of video files using the software's Batch Video Processor

To convert MPG to AVI or MP3 it is as continues:

1. In Sound Forge 4.5XP ($70)or Sound Forge 5.0 (sonicfoundry.com) open the file identifying by type MPG or AVI in "file type".

2. “save as type and format PCM” *.WAV OR *.MP3, and only save the sound
Information to the question "The original file contains non-Audio information…“.

3. If observes that program permits to you to edit sounds of video files that it is other topic.

Done.

Well, sometime it takes a long time and you can concatenate files or split it or go with PAL, NTSC, etc if you want to make it more complicated.

It's $35 but free to try for 30 days.

That doesn't work with the WMV1 codec. What you can do to convert it is run GraphEdt.exe which comes with directshow, then do this:

1. Drag the .WMV file to it. It will construct a graph to play the file.

2. Delete the audio and video renderers

3. Add filters (Graph/Insert Filters) to write an AVI file. Most of these filters are under "DirectShow filters"

4. You need to compress at least the video unless the file is tiny. I don't know how if you can set the filter settings, so I just use PCM and a lossless JPG/huffy at this point. You can recompress with VirtualDub later.

5. Add an "AVI Mux" filter, and plug the video and audio filters into it

6. Add a file writer filter, and hit the play button. Voila, your AVI is created. You have just screwed M$ and their proprietary crap in the ass with their own program. God bless.

tried it with 1.3c does not work same prob could not locate wmv1 decompressor seems to be a common problem

what you described below does work, to get graphedt go to http://www.filemirrors.com/ and search for graphedt, it should come, thats where i got mine from

I've tried everything. I suck with computers but i think i've given it a fair shot. I made a movie over the past year, i built it on the computer. It would only run decently as a WMV1 file. I want to burn it to a cd to play it in a dvd player but I need it to be an AVI file from what i hear. somebody email me at LARRYFROMNC@aol.com and tell me how the hell to do this please. I've spent alot of time on it and alot of people have been waiting to see our movie. again, i am trying to convert WMV1 to AVI, and that videodub 1.3 or whatever wont read the WMV1 so please somebody email me w/ a walk through. thanks, larry

Did you ever get wmv switched to avi? I just downloaded virtual dub 1.3c and it isnt let me do it either. Its giving me the same error message. If you have found the answer please let me know because I really need some help also. Thanks

Instead i downloaded a program that converts mwv to asf then from there you can go to avi or mpeg ...what ever you want. You have to use two seperate programs but its worth it.I have a very limited knowledge about computers so if I can do it anyone can..Good luck

i have v dub v1.4.8 can i still convert that file with that type of version ????
