Filters are 8th order (48dB/octave) digital Butterworth BPFs.
3 different filter bandwidths available
Voiced/Unvoiced detection
Sample/Hold of spectrum
Spectrum Shifting
Spectrum Inversion
Spectrum randomization
Yodel mode (LFO)

Re: No DSOUND.DLL? Fatal Exception?

DSOUND.DLL is part of DirectX. While the program
currently doesn't use DirectX I am in the process
of converting over to DirectX. The program
shouldn't be giving you this error (i.e. it
is a bug) I will fix it and put a new version
up on my web site. One of these days.

In the meantime, install DirectX! You'll
need it for all those spiffy games.

What bad press - I think it's great!

You are told by Cyclonix that it will not work on all sound cards - you can check if it works on your system before you buy - so why th moaning?

Works on my system with a Midiman Dman sound card - works a treat too - didn't take much to persuade me to part with $50

What a complex thing!

Hi,
o.k., o.k., you might think this bastard should read the manual, BUT I don´t claim to be a programmer. Just wanted to make some of that cool sounding singing organs and violins. What, explained in 3-4 sentences do I have to do to create some? I only get some sort of distorted sh.. out of that program.
Help apreciated...

Vocoder v1.08?

Where can I get the Cylonix Vocoder v1.08?

Vocoding

Im looking for a good software vocoder, but
i dont know if it will satisfy my need.
What im looking for is a thing which can make
the same effect that Cher used in Believe, and so many others have used since.
Is a software vocoder capable of that, or do i have buy a hardware one????

no hifi with CYLONIX?

Hi!
I wonder wether the CYLONIX has the option to generate hifi-WAV-samples.
The realtime-version operates with a rather low sample frequency which makes it impossible to use it for professional vocoder-sounds in productions.
I have not found a better vocoder than CYLONIX so far so I would like to use the very good sound..
Has anyone discovered how to use higher sample frequency for example only when creating a non-realtime-processed wav-file?
huk

Re: no hifi with CYLONIX?

I'm currently finishing a software vocoder that produces stereo
output files at 44100 Hz. It offers panning for all terts band
filters and the amount of modulation can be set
per frequency band as well. There is also the possibility
to use inverse or linear or logaritmic or random coupling
of the modulator and carrier frequency bands.
Check out the example (old mono example) audio file at
http://morgana.wtm.tudelft.nl/~jos

greetings,

Zaphod B.

Re: no hifi with CYLONIX?

The reason the cylonix vocoder only uses
an 11KHz sampling rate internally, is
because the vocoder filters have an upper
cutoff frequency of 5.5KHz. This is true
even of the very expensive analog machines!
You have to understand what the vocoder is
doing - mapping the spectrum of speech onto
another signal. Most of the energy in
the speech spectrum is below 5.5KHz in frequency.

You can, however, input and output with
44.1KHz wave files (with program version 1.08).
This makes it more convenient to work with the
44.1KHz, 16 bit files that are used in professional
music production.

The internal rate is still 11.025KHz, however,
but the sound is the same as if I used a
44.1KHz internal sampling rate.
