| ChordWizard v2.0 has been extensively redesigned since its predecessor v1.5x. The new version retains, and expands on, the unique strengths of the previous version. At the same time, ChordWizard v2.0 offers a raft of powerful new features within an enhanced working environment, making itself more intuitive and accessible to all players, from beginner to advanced level. Chordshape Libraries: ChordWizard automatically organises libraries for you, first by identifying what chord (or chords) are played by each chordshape, and then by grouping the chordshapes in the library so that all chordshapes which play the same chord appear together. ChordWizard works with any 4, 5, or 6-stringed instrument in any tuning. It is supplied with standard libraries for common instruments, which you can add to. You may also want to start your own. You can use libraries interactively to explore and quickly find chordshapes, or you can use them to print your own chord books. Filtering: ChordWizard can quickly filter a library to find only the chordshapes that you are looking for. The filtering function is very flexible, and you can use a chord, chord type, root note, finger position, or individual notes and degrees as the basis for filtering. You can even join multiple conditions together. Suggestions: ChordWizard can scan the entire fretboard of your instrument to give you suggestions for chordshapes. There are millions of possibilities, but ChordWizard suggests only those which suit the filter you have set, and which also fall within the difficulty and quality settings that you specify. Scale and Chord Tools: The Relations tool helps you write more interesting chord progressions by showing you chords that sound good together in the scale of your song. This is like a musical thesaurus, prompting you with possibilities for the next chord in a sequence. Once you have decided on a chord, you can use a filter to find the chordshapes you can use to play it. ChordWizard can even tell you the scale of a song, if you don't know it. The Notes To Scales tool finds scales from a tune, and the Chords To Scales tool finds scales from a chord sequence. Printing: ChordWizard can print professionally presented chord books from any library, to help you even when you are away from the computer. This is a great feature for less common instruments and tunings where commercial chord books simply aren't available. Even for standard tunings, it puts YOU in control of which chordshapes you want to include in your chord book. ChordWizard can also print scale charts for lead players. These show the finger positions for any scale on the fretboard of any instrument and tuning. You can decide whether to label these in terms of their note names or sequence in the scale. Sound: ChordWizard uses your MIDI-capable sound card to play chordshapes, chords and scales as you explore them. This allows you to compare sounds, and when you decide which chords and chordshapes you want to use, they sound the same on your your real instrument. ChordWizard has many sound options and is pitch perfect - you can even use it to tune your instrument. |
