Software Description

CloneCD is the perfect tool to make backup copies of your music and data CDs, regardless of copy protection. CloneCD's award-winning user interface allows you to copy almost any CD in just a few mouse clicks.

Since the release of 5.0, CloneCD is not only able to copy CDs but also most DVD formats, such as DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R Dual Layer and DVD-RAM. The movies are copied 1:1 and therefore not modified (compressed). Note that to copy movie DVDs you also require AnyDVD.

CloneCD also works with other formats such as ISO and UDF files and copies CDs/DVDs with the new SafeDisc 3 Copy Protection System. Yo,

I was in the same boat when "a company" substituted my CD-RW with this one.

Roxio Easy CD Creater 5.0. has an update (5.1.0.104d) that is compatable with the 8438E burner. It supports Easy CD and Direct CD. They also have a CD drive update for Creative Labs. (http://softwareupdates.roxio.com/gm/Products/en/ECDC/v51/Platinum/DriveUP_v5.1d.EXE)

With this burner you also need to check your settings under control panel/system/devices. Ensure that under settings that the options are correct:

* Disconnect - Checked
* Sync data transfer - Unchecked
* Auto insert notification - Checked
* DMA - Unchecked

This is the only software that I found that will work with this CD-RW. The Nero Burning software they sent didn't even work becuase of the switch to 8438E.

Good luck, I hope this helps. I know - more money to spend to get this burner to work...

I read the message on the available drivers for my *%$#@ Creative model 8438E CDRW. This thing is driving me crazy. How can I obtain the update 5.1.0.104d for Roxio Easy CD Creater. I have the 5.0 software. Anyone who could guide me would be appreciated. When I search for updates, all I get is the 5.3 version. Would this include the driver I need for my 8438E?
