: it's awesome, but lacking some key features as far as i can see..such as sequencer-programmable note release values and sample volume via the sequencer, right now you can only change the volume of the track, not the actual sample

You can change the pan/volume/filter cut/res/fine tune per triggered voice. Fruity also gives you 4 envelopes (vol/filter res/cut/pitch) & 5 LFO's (pan/vol/filter cut/res/pitch) per channel.
(& the TS404 is a full synth)
