FX 1.5 is a great software synth for Windows 3.1. I use
it on my 486SX/33Mhz with no long delays in sound
generation. It's a little complex, but fun to use, once
you get the hang of it. An understanding of synthesis
is helpful. And as FREEWARE, it's a heck of a good
deal!

there is new v2 out for win95 with midi in support.
some nice additions to this program.
