Software Description

Fat Rock Studio is a multitrack, digital audio recorder (harddisk recording-studio). It has 16 stereo/mono channels and is designed to work just like a real world recorder. It implements a plugin-architecture for realtime audio processing effects. The best comparision is probably with an A-DAT recorder.

and an rca to 1/8" cord.
go line in to sound card...
record and edit wavs w. EAC!

Can this be reversed? Can music from a computer disc be transferred and recorded on a blank cassette? Or a .wav file transferred to a blank cassette?

Here's what I did.... To begin with, I have Windows XP Home, Windows Media Player 9.00.00.3075, and Windows Movie Maker ver. 5.1, a cassette player, a 1/8 to 1/8" stereo to stereo miniplug(any RadioShack, part#42-2387A), and Def Leppards' Hysteria tape.
Put the tape into the player, hook the stereo miniplug up btween the player, and the Microphone plug thingy on your puter, and fire-up the Movie Maker (comes with XP, or can get it from Windows Update).
Next, on the Movie Maker, select the TOOLS, and then "Narrate Timeline". When screen comes up, look to left for "Start Narration" button. The one below says "Stop Narration".
Now, just like we use to do in the 80's with the dual cassette dubbing,...having to push play on one side, and play/Rec. on the other at the same time.. instead of play/Rec., you'll push the "Start Narration". Let it record.
Press "Stop Narration" when song is done, and the Movie Maker will automaticly start the SAVE process, as well as,put an oversized icon representing your song in the middle of the screen. It's saved in your My Documents/My Videos folder, in a file called Narration.
Now, converting it over to another type of file is up to you, but Windows Media Player allowed me to add it to my Library, and that's all I needed. E-Mail me if anyone has an easy way to do THAT. Thanx.
As for revearse...it's easier...just use the miniplug from Headphone plug thingy on puter, to the Microphone plug thingy on recorder, or an auxilary jack of some sort, and record away. If auxilary plug on recording device is different from miniplug, just ask the dudes at RadioShack for the corresponding adapter. ..and you're done!

would be nice if you could import wav files..into it. But as a basic free multitarck it's great!

...but only on my mom's newer computer, mine (4 year old POS) which does have win98 evidently has some hardware conflicts which won't even let the program run. Oh well 1 out 2 ain't bad.

Glad to be trying out your software. It has the feel of a real multitrack
recorder. My system has not had any lock ups or crashes in the
five days I've been using it. I increased the buffer size to eliminate
a little bit of chopiness.

Just one question though. When I lay down a couple tracks and
get to the third I noticed a slight lag in time which grew greater
with each track. By the time I got to the fifth track it would be way
out of time with the first track. Is there any way I can fix this? If so,
it would be perfect and a much better solution than analog four track.

Good program, more straightforward than Cakewalk, and you can save stuff with this version!

Will there be a click track, I wonder?
And can you vary the fader level whilst mixing down?
