Software Description

Audio application that allows users to easily record their collection of old vinyl records using just the Griffin iMic and their turntable. Previously users wishing to record their old record collection had to hook up their entire stereo system just to power their turntable. Now users can connect the record player directly to their iMic, and using Final Vinyl record and save all their old albums.

They can then make them into CDs, MP3s etc. The beta version of Final Vinyl is available now for free download at www.griffintechnology.com. Final Vinyl does more than just record old albums; it is a fully functional general audio recording application as well. It can be used to record instruments, microphones and reel-to-reel tapes plugged into the iMic.

It includes a 10-band Equalizer that is capable of significantly altering and enhancing a user's sound input. For example, inexpensive microphones could be improved by tweaking the base response. Old worn records can be fine tuned and tonally corrected. All this and more can be done using the completely free Final Vinyl combined with the Griffin iMic

New in v2.1.1

  • Added text fields to the EQ filter to show the numerical value of the sliders.
  • Implemented a text message to indicate when recording is active.
  • Increased the size of the time text view.
  • Fixed bug with saving 32bit AIFF files.
  • Fixed bug where turning off playthru while recording would confuse Final Vinyl.
  • Added Appcasting via Sparkle.

Possible incompatibility problems with FV

I have an Apple MacBook Pro originally running on Mac OS10.4.5 ! I could use both Audacity and FV, although there seemed to be a conflict between them causing unexpected shutdowns. I have recently upgraded to Mac OS Leopard, and FV just doesn't work with it. There is distortion and excessive noise whenever I try to record from a tape recorder. The Griffin iMic seems to be working OK, so I can only conclude that my version FV is incompatible. Incidentally, whenever I try to access the Griffin Technologies website to download FV I get a 404 error message. Has anyone else had this problem ?

Download problems

When trying to download Final Vinyl it displays as text in the browser. How can this be saved as a program?

FV crashes when recording is stopped!

Why would FV crash after recording is stopped?
It's happening all the time, now.

Don't know, probably same way friendships end, for no apparent reason! Happy Birthday in a few weeks!

Welcome to the club, ever since OS 10.1.0 this seems to happen, the griffin people don´t seem to have this problem but everyone I know. And when I re-open the program all data of the last session are still there and I can continue…
